Yesterday I bought a CD player that was made in 1984. Its a Bang & Olufsen Beogram CD50. I paid R125!
Surprisingly it sounds really nice for such an old piece of equipement and looks good too.

Now I need some other vintage stuff to go with it........

ive also got a CD player from around that era - it is probably around 4 or 5 years younger than yours - i prefer the way those older CD players sound - actually the newer ones are all way more expensive to get the same or similar sound quality to them

mine is a pioneer PDS 702 - initially i had thought it was a PDS 802 but i looked at the label again and discovered my mistake - and upon reading more i remembered that the 802 also had a centralized disc tray ..... but still an amazing sounding player and its definitely been more value than the price paid cos ive used it now for around 20 years or so

I agree with you. I am a bit shocked that my samsung bluray player and my new pioner dvd player dont sound as good as the b&o.

Maybe its because I am not used to playing my cd's through a dedicated CD player.

It could very well be, you don't know what you are missing until you hear what it sounds like.
