Never heard one in action, but the Firestone components are generally highly regarded and parts quality is usually pretty solid, if not extravagant.

In my experience Apple components DO benefit audibly from a DAC upgrade, with the caveat that the amp/speakers are revealing and of suitably high quality.

If you've got a good price, I'd go for it. The DAC is, in my opinion, the most useful/versatile thing ever invented as it (potentially) improves the sound of several components.

Also haven't heard one in action, but have heard good things.

Been looking at Firestone Audio for a small listening rig in the bedroom.

So, far the only local source I've found is Emia Distribution.  If you know of any other, please let me know.

Or you could get it direct from the local distributor
www.emia.co.za

I've tried a few Firestone audio products and have certainly liked them.

JA, after VAT and duties you not going to be too far off the R3k mark for that unit.

Hi Guys,

James from emia here. I'm the guy that distributes Firestone Audio in SA. Any question please feel free to ask. AVSA have not tested the Spitfire yet but the Korora Phono stage performed very well. I have read other DAC reviews where the Spitfire came out as the pick of the bunch in the "Affordable" group.

James.

Are you using the included Switching or Supplier PSU?
