Howzit

Got the Dire Straits ALchemy Bluray yesterday. Picture is not great, but the audio was remastered in DTS HD master audio and sounds brilliant.

GO GET IT!

Got it.
Not impressed at all, the image quality is crap and the sound quality is well, not much better.
At least I did play it once.  :-X

What is the point of releasing it on BluRay then? Looks like the manufacturers were looking for an easy buck >:(

Interesting because every single review I've read raved about the sound and complained about the picture quality.

Some of the comments from another site:

Where's the fidelity?
Better quality than my VHS version
the BD format should not be abused for this

But I must say that these are all negative ones, compared to most people who liked it.

Yep, I think they're too worried about the video, the audio is where it's at. In fact, I'd probably prefer to switch the TV off while listening to it.

This recording was made aeons ago, so one cannot expect miracles. I have the DVD version and the sound is obviously not as good as later recordings made using much more advanced technology.

Still, the sound is quite decent and the music is GREAT, making for an enjoyable disc. I'd still recommend it to any Dire Straits fan. Mark Knopfler is the man!  8)

kinda strange innit? now that a high definition audio format is finally available that is compatible with most home users' systems, they need to add video just because it's expected on blu-ray.

The sacd version of brothers in arms is as good as it gets, plus all of the hdcd's that he has made.

LOL! Yeah, I guess they're trying to please everybody. I'm easy to please though, as long as it sounds good I'm happy. I'd never expect footage that was shot in 1983 to look brilliant.
