Haha, yes I do, but I don't own a single record.

Finished the speakers 3 weeks ago. Just needs a finishing touch, but been listening too much. You must come listen or I can bring 'em over once they're 100% finished.

Doogle,

I am interested, since it looks like one can customize the plinth to suite anyone's taste (specifically the Wife  ;D). Also, because I will have my personal Courier bringing it from Cape Town...  (PAPPA3) ;) :D

What "bothers" me is the following that I found on the Net:
"But idler-drive turntable systems are not without drawbacks—coupling the platter directly to the motor means that vibrations from the motor can be passed to the platter, where they can be picked up and amplified by the sensitive phono cartridge transducer. This will color and degrade the musical signals being amplified. Moreover, the fabrication techniques used to build Lenco turntables exacerbated problems with vibration control, as the idler-drive motor was housed in a "cavity" that allowed resonance reinforcement, and the motor was not sufficiently damped or decoupled from the plinth to prevent certain colorations."

I suppose replacing the cartridge is also not an issue? Do you know what the tracking force range of the tone-arm is?
I am a great Ortofon fan.

If it is still available, please let me know what you think of my "concerns/comments".

The best place to look for the potential of Lenco's is LencoHeaven as mentioned above by Waterhond. Most of them scrap the original arm, and build a really heavy solid plinth. There is a template available for downloading. The motor, bearing and platter are solid heavy never-die affairs which make a really good basis for a high end turntable with a good arm. Depends how much you want to thow at it.  :-) I am sure the guys at Lenco heaven would disagree with your quote! The original arm is not more than just adequate imo.

I second that. Was wondering how I could sneak another turntable into the house...

BTW. One method that has worked is to let (actively encourage) the missus go boot shopping before I present the new piece of audio gear... Shhhhhh.... our secret ;)

very glad you got a local guy to take this. Stefan....enjoy, there is so much you can do with this player, explore it to the limits.

I got my rega........FREE, so no contest i suppose. it is a older one. planar2 with a RB200 arm and dynavector 10X3 cartridge. all in very good condition. I think for the sake of all the kids around I will store the dynavector and change to a simpler MM.

I've done the layout for a very simple MM MC phono stage if anybody is interested.

Never argue with an idiot. The people watching might not know the difference.

Thanx, was thinking of doing the plinth-thing, but it is in such good, original condition, that it would be a sin to change anything. Give me time though. Hehe!
Still have to get some LP first. Took some of the old man's yesterday. Lots of rice crispies on a few like Rolling Stones. Found the awesome TOMMY the who. Absolutely clean.
