FS: Swiss-made Lenco L75 fully refurbed...
« on: August 30, 2010, 10:48:45 pm »
Lenco L75 original "Made in Switzerland" (Not Italy), fully refurbed as per the listing in AVSA DIY Section. Tracks all test tracks on Hi-Fi Sound Test Record, and no audible rumble to my ears on the Rumble Track. I would give it a 9/10 as there are a few minor scratches on the lid and a small piece of damaged veneer on the plinth. New audio leads and mains lead, new 16mm supawood baseboard, resprayed plinth, new V-blocks in tonearm, original Excel ES-70s cartridge.

R1500 - in Cape Town

Hi Rudi - would prefer local pickup, but lets see what the response is.... would hate for it to get damaged in transit. Doogle :-)

This is the bargain of the week if not the month!
I'd buy it but I have one.  ;D
Stick a Denon DL-160 cart on this and you're a vinyl convert for life!

Hi Rudi

I'm going to Cape Town on about the 18th Sept.  If it can be well packed and delivered to Century City (CT), I'd be happy to bring it back for you.  You'd then need to collect it from Randfontein on the West Rand.  I'll be back on the 3rd Oct. No charge, of course ;).

Ooh this is to tempting but I do not think you will appreciate what I will do with it. so rather let it go to a buyer that will appreciate the current form.

you will have a cadenza if you see what I have in mind, all i need is the mechanicals and lid. the rest gets stripped off. (although I do think that buying yours will still work out cheaper for me than buying a basket case and fixing that up)

thanks Pappa3 for your offer, much appreciated.

Rudi, don't feel bad - I was very tempted to do a strip with the cut-out pan as per some on the Lencolovers forum - there is one in particular with a plinth made from ply that looks awesome! I don't care what the buyer does with this, as long as I'm paid! But it is a nice clean and original L75, so ye.......  Doogle  :-)

Doogle,

I am interested, since it looks like one can customize the plinth to suite anyone's taste (specifically the Wife  ;D). Also, because I will have my personal Courier bringing it from Cape Town...  (PAPPA3) ;) :D

What "bothers" me is the following that I found on the Net:
"But idler-drive turntable systems are not without drawbacks—coupling the platter directly to the motor means that vibrations from the motor can be passed to the platter, where they can be picked up and amplified by the sensitive phono cartridge transducer. This will color and degrade the musical signals being amplified. Moreover, the fabrication techniques used to build Lenco turntables exacerbated problems with vibration control, as the idler-drive motor was housed in a "cavity" that allowed resonance reinforcement, and the motor was not sufficiently damped or decoupled from the plinth to prevent certain colorations."

I suppose replacing the cartridge is also not an issue? Do you know what the tracking force range of the tone-arm is?
I am a great Ortofon fan.

If it is still available, please let me know what you think of my "concerns/comments".

the lenco on its own is pretty average. nothing special. but if you throw lots of cash at it you can have this  http://www.high-endaudio.com/RC-Tables.html (very interesting read)

Haha, yes I do, but I don't own a single record.

Finished the speakers 3 weeks ago. Just needs a finishing touch, but been listening too much. You must come listen or I can bring 'em over once they're 100% finished.
