Emerald Physics CS2P speakers for sale
« on: December 07, 2016, 12:15:02 PM »
Price R38k
Condition 9.5/10 ( 2 small marks)
Shipping : At buyers risk and cost
Location : Bloem

Up for grabs are these sensational open baffle speakers. They are as close to live music as you can get. Superbly dynamic. Some of the best mids I have heard with very smooth tops.

Included is the upgraded external crossovers as well as the Emerald Physics 2.4 DSP unit to either bi-amp or flatten the freq response.

When used with the DSP the lower freq output goes from 40hz down to 24! Also sensitivity goes from 93db to 97db at 4ohm.

It images like a Maggie , but with incredibly low and tight bass

They are less than a year old.

Cost with all extras excluding import around $4000 currently.

I can't remember the exact model I listed to, but probably the best speaker I'd heard

Thank you very much Gents!

They are quite special albeit not very well known..

The reviews are almost too good to be true, but in this case there are some merit.

I have a pair of Linkwitz Lab Orions and love them, these are very special. Nothing like an open baffle, someone in JHB buy them and invite me for a listen, please. :dop:

What type of amp r u supposed to drive them with? A SET amp?

Can they handle normal valve amps? SS amps? Power required?

Hi Spurge

I drove them beautifully with my 8w SET amp.

They love valves , but can handle big power as well. I suppose it depends on hoe "live" you want to get. They will easily handle 500wpc , but you certainly dont need that. Their midrange capability deserves valves and of course SET if you can afford it.

They are incredibly dynamic, so it is a big sound. I prefer them in an almost nearfield position. You become part of the speaker in a sense.

Some of my friends whom have heard most of my systems believe that it is the best sounding speaker/system I have owned..

I use a Ming Da 300B pre with the Krell KSA 50..

Hi Guys

I am also willing to trade these for high sufficiency stand mounts or floor standers that will work a bit better with my SET amps.

Really love my SET combo and would rather look for slightly easier to drive speakers. ( that a normal person can afford)

Thanks

Thank you gents..

Just for interest: I am currently listening to a friends Golden Ear Triton 5's that was apparently voiced with a similar SET amp and I must say that the results are staggering for such an " entry level" speaker.

I cannot imagine that any speaker costing double that will be able to compare with it. It is truly a remarkable speaker.

The search will continue..

I can believe you ... a good SET just makes things sound right... pitty that the speakers are limited in terms of HE, but I always wondered how one can do a higher powered SET

I am a little confused with the images, looks like two different models, one has three drivers and one has two? Either way very nice speakers, you got me pondering.
