I will be ordering the 31st of October and delivery will be here on 17 November via the transport available for piggy-back purposes. I will still have to determine the final landed price, but brace yourself for ± R1500

I am ordering a bunch of stuff from various outlets to a central point in Bavaria, there all gets packaged together and then I ship to SA.

I will order 1 for myself.

Forgive what might be some inane questions.  I did look at the YouTube video which was partially enlightening

Do you need anything else to make it work, or is it functional out of the box?
What resolution of FLAC files can it handle?
Does it resolve DSD files in any way?
Is there software with it?  Or can you download it easily?
Is it Windows and Mac compatible?

Thanks

needs a raspberry pi to connect to/alternatively an usb-2-i2s module and power supply
What resolution of FLAC files can it handle?
24bit 192Khz
Does it resolve DSD files in any way?
Not natively, but will if you resample DSD64 to PCM
Is there software with it?  Or can you download it easily?
you will need squeezelite or MPD or when usb-2-i2s most players will work if i2s module driver is loaded
Is it Windows and Mac compatible?
Only if you connect it to an usb-2-i2s module

The Hifiberry i2s driver works fine with it, but squeezelite works as is

Also from audiophonics there is a standalone touch screen unit with power button, I-Sabre dac V3 and Pi all assembled.

http://www.audiophonics.fr/en/network-audio-players/rasptouch-open-source-player-es9023-dac-raspberry-pi-3-silver-p-11255.html

However the price is almost R5000 then you still have to factor in customs duty.
