Jeesh! Would that be "old school" or "old fart"? ;D

Do you still get parallel printers? Some Notebooks don't even have parallel or serial output ;)

-I'm not saying that I'm not using USB, just that the standard sux with regard to carrying signal and throughput.

Gert I know you're bored with the TPA6120, however, as I posted earlier (maybe you missed it in your tiredness/whiskeyness) I have 5 of them and 5 of the PCM 2702 so that gives us a head start ITO samples for 5 people.

I'm happy to assemble from kit form but as you said with the DAC and Opamp already soldered, SMT not my forte ;D

Make that none. Just hat to fork out R2k for a  parallel port.

-lots of places still use them for invoicing. Very expensive though. Cheapest one I've seen was about R1.5k

Would it be okay if a noob jumps on this bandwagon?

Just like Prince, List me up for the bang-for-the-buck amp...either from Gert or Ludo as long as its ready made. I'm no solder hero so I'd go with whatever peeps decide :(

I will also be interested in the bang for buck option. I will be able to solder the basic stuff, but the really small-legged stuff, I would try and avoid. So PCB, plus the surface mount stuff already on would be fine with me.

So what do you guys have against the LM386 anyway? (Hehehe!  :D )

Preference: The "cheapy" option (Gert's option 1, TPA6120) is very  promising. DIY fun + savings =  8)

I can solder well and have built many gadgets, but I don't have SMT/SMD facilities, so a PCB with those animals already on would be great....the rest is kindergarten stuff  ;) ;D

My metalworking and woodworking skills also suck (Ludo, glad I'm not the only one!) so suggestions for a suitable neat enclosure would be most welcome, as part of a kit or a group buy.

Hey chaps, I will be in for one as long as it is really good one. Let me know who needs the bucks. What about a group buy of the one Gert recommended for me?
