Hi

My NAD deck gave up the ghost a while back and I still have a couple of hundred tapes that go unlistened and undigitised, including a lot not available on CD. Anyone out there got a reasonable quality cassette deck still operating well? I'll pay +-R500 plus shipping (I'm in Joburg). The Marantz would have done fine (sigh) but sadly the JVC won't hack it!

Our church has two double tape decks that we no longer really use (Yamaha and some other make - will check).  They were used to record sermons.  Now we use CDs.  I'll get their details and post it.  they're both in excellent condition.

I have a harman/kardon CD91C deck available.

I don't know if it is any good or whether it works, will see if I can hook it up to test.

I am in Joburg if you want to come and have a look.

Apologies for the delay.  The cassette decks are as follows:

Pioneer CT-W208R double cassette deck, auto-reverse, high speed dubbing, dolby noise reduction.  This one has some scratches on the top towards the back of the deck.  Otherwise the face is in very good condition.

Yamaha KX-W321 double cassette deck, auto-reverse, high-speed dubbing, dolby noise reduction.  It has tape on both doors, still have to check what that's for?  Otherwise it's in good condition.

I still have to clean them a bit, then test them.  I just wanted to at least get some details posted.  Hope this helps for now.

Don't know about the quality, but New World Stores in Menlyn has the Sansui D-X310W available for R299.00 brand new.

Hi Pappa3. Would you mind letting me know when you've tested them? Thanks.

Hi everyone who volunteered kit - thanks very much! I listened to Dawid's Harmon Kardon, and it sounds great. Everything works, so I grabbed it. (Youngsters have much more money than old farts - he has a Quad setup in his flat!)

Thanks again - I am now done!

Huh remember that those "old farts" usually have a lot of that  nice vintage gear you youngsters are always after. Wink
