CD player service?
« on: July 22, 2010, 04:45:10 pm »
Audiophiles I need some insights, wisdom and advice

I have stumbled on an old CD player, 90's vintage, which was TOTL for that period. It was not used for the past 6 years, just stored in a cupbord with other gear. It plays and works but does not seem at its best.

I was advised to have it serviced and cleaned and probabbly re-align the laser. Is there a set procedure for this or does it have to be done in terms of a manufacturers spec using a service manual for the machine?

Any ideas, experiece or wisdom you might wantr to share with me - I am not technically inclined or able.

Thanks

There's a NAD certified repair technician in Pretoria (Ashlea Gardens) operating for his own account and his charges are very reasonable (I know NAD subcontract all repairs/ services to him).  He's done a great job servicing stuff for me and I have no hesitation in recommending him.  Name's Johan and his mobile number is 083 753 2900.
