I would be very intersted to know what all ye folks considers the best seperates combination possible of all time.

I am sure that there will be many possible combinations, but as there are so many factors to consider I don't think you can with certainty say which the "best" combination would be ;)

i CAN say that right now I'd settle for a Black Widow pre-amp/mono-block combo running a pair of Vivid Audio Giya's. dream system, oh yeah!

If not possible for a whole system might I have your opinion on seperates components alone, not acting as a combined unit ie what is the best possible source components today; cd player; tape desk, dvd player, etc.

As mentioned on the speaker side the Vivids will be on my listening list.
I also like the sound of the following makes and therefore will recommend a listen to there flagships:

Amplifier wise definitely Valve audio.(Numerous reasons).
