Hey... the house is a "vintage" - 1950's...

Speakers are 1.8 m tall...
Are you kidding, those are all metal "Streamline" style  pelmets! High ceilings, parquet floors and picture rails to  boot! Don't ever make the mistake of "updating" any of those original features.

What are you doing for a x-over and baffle-step comp.?

This is an old Spoornet house - built as strong as a tank.

X-over is going to be a series type for the tweeter only (FR to the 'woofer') but BSC... that, I found out now, is vital to prevent them from sounding "off". At first I thought "Oh no! They sound crap!" but Jacques from Phi Audio (who also designed the cabs for me) sent me a schematic of a BSC for the pipes.

BSC is introduced at 732.5Hz... or something like that...

Yes, and some stuffing in the top part of the tower to smooth out node cancellations (or something) Was inspired by your pics late last night, thought: I can do that (yeah right) and googled voight-pipes - found some nice stuff re the original designs. Will see if I can find the links but Phi is prob way ahead with the latest info...

Pipes are stuffed at the top part, above the driver with polyester "batting".

Found the one link that I really liked. Pictures, graphs and schematics  by the Beltway Bandit
from Washington, DC and his aptly named: "The Voight-Pipe Resource Page"

That was the first page I studied over and over when the spark ignited my interest.

REPORT

I have been listening to the speakers for a while now (using borrowed inductors from a set of vintage Pioneer speakers).

I am quite impressed. They sound very BIG for such small drivers. Smooth mids and highs. Bass is fairly good for a 4" driver.

Just a bit cheezed bout my treasured NAD 3020A!

Got the quote for the paint job today. Going for Ferrari Scaglietti Red with black trim. Also submitted the design for the woofer flanges.

@Waterhond: I have always wanted to do a 'vinyl wrap' box one day... still looking for the appropriate picture or design...

@GITM: Do have a better half? Best ask her advise for the colour choice... Avoids loads of household strife and as a cherry on top she becomes 'invested' in your project... Making future projects less of a hard sell...
