What think you of the following virtual head algorithm

I found the barber shop demo exceptionaly spooky on my HD650's. Had to fight the urge to remove them when the plastic bag was placed over my head.

Sounds very good, but you don't really get the front dimension of the sound?
I know everything happens to the sides and behind/above you, but sound wise feels like your against a wall with your face.
Probably need some more math for that ;) but really well done.
Or is it just my headset that doesn't reproduce the front stage?

Just wondering if the front dimension is available :P

It is there for me with the barber shop at least - the other demo's are less impressive.

What setup you using?

Remember - it also depends on how normal your head is ;D (how close it is to that which they modelled).

The headphones are the razer barracuda 5.1 set.  Only the two channels play though actually did move the headset off my ears a bit forward to see if that helped. Didn't make much of a difference.

Imaging too pinpoint, and spatial too exagerated, sounds cool though, maybe other people hear like that... or I need an upgrade in headphones and or soundcard and or headphone cable.  ;D
OK! I've had it! I don't give anymore Kharma. Kharma should work in mysterious ways...

Pretty awesome.

Just listened to it off the laptop at work through a set of cheapy Digitech headphones, and I must say, it works really well... 8)

Will be a lot more calculations to get it working for a game, as you'll be moving around, not stationary.  And applying that to each and every sound in the environment.
Would be cool yes, but I'm sure you'd be able to get a better/smoother effect using 5.1.

As this mainly relies on the idea that one ear can't hear what the other ear hears, it's a bit sucky when wanting to play it on your surround system.

Don't the same go for 5.1, everywhere you go you move relative to the virtual soundsource

The problem persists where you need to be able to listen to the left and right channels separately, with separate recording positions to have this effect.

Given enough time and money anything is possible :).

Think about where we are with 3D monitors! 5 or 10 years ago we would not have thought it possible.
