Slow progress - and after the grinding my house looks like its been hit by a bomb  :-\  :'( Didn't realize such a small renovation involved so much.... not sure how we'll get the place clean - fortunately my electronics are sealed off in another part of the house.

The electrician noticed some of the wiring for the plugs is wrong, 1.5mm instead of 2.5mm or something - guess the company who did the electrical compliance certificate is going to be doing some free work this week... the current electrician said he'd prefer not to do anything until this is sorted, else they'll put the blame on him/me.

Almost end of day 2 - and still busy with the wall.

Nothing gets under my skin like bad service.

Just got home, and all they've done is adding the covers to two plug points, and one light.... thats it. Tomorrow all hell will break loose, they were supposed to be finished already.

Outstanding:
cutting and fitting tiles
finish cementing new entrance to kitchen
painting
refitting kitchen.

If there was a problem they could have called.

Welcome to the minefield and angst of renovating and builders/trades.
One piece of advice here - dont pay em for anything more than materials delivered on site and the work already done.

Yip - well this guys just lost out on future work. his cellphone now goes to voicemail.

He was our side door key which we was supposed to leave at home last night so we could leave it for our domestic, my girlfriend now has to wait for her to arrive.

Building is still ongoing - the majority is done, they busy with painting at the moment, I'm amazed they managed to match the wall paint perfectly.... its a bit dark at the moment, but by the looks of it you can't even see there was an opening, i.e. the join is visible.

I'm having them redo the new entrance to the kitchen for the second time tomorrow, yesterday the wall wasn't level or square on either side, they fixed the one today, and probably thought I wouldn't notice the small 80cm section under the counter.

Hopefully by Monday it'll all be done.

Little bit over enthusiastic - the join is clearly visible in day light on the one side of the wall - having them fix it up this morning.

Really wish this could be done already, want my house back.

The wall is finally done.

Not 100% happy with the small 1mxbrick width section they did at the new entrance to the kitchen - but got so tired of having them there that I decided to get it redone propery when I redo the kitchen.

I think they redid the plastering around 5-7 times, and eventually the actual company owner came and did it himself because I said if it wasn't done by Tuesday morning, I'd get someone else to do it properly... He finally got it right on Monday night.

Shame, building is always such a mission, but worth it once it's done. It's a real ball ache!

I did....

Saw them at the Home Expo - found their service extremely efficient... not something thats common place in SA...

Pics still on the way, took them and keep leaving my camera (and cellphone) at home.

I too was amazed at their service , I have bought a lot from em , even stuff that wasn't REALLY what I wanted , but their pricing and service is so good I would rather support em than anyone else. Bernadette is great...

If I remember correctly, it was Bernadette at the Expo... I mentioned that the store was recently recommened on a forum for good service, and she was suprised.

Just about everything in the store is not something I'd normally have in my house, personal taste difference, but these couches were extremely comfortable - we tried quite a few lounge suites the next day, and nothing matched the comfort - so we bought and paid for everything on the Sunday, to have it delivered on the Tuesday. The good service was a bonus.

Here are the pictures - I initially took of the wall they built, but you can't see the joins, or any fault... so I thought I'd post pictures of my progress on the room.

I still have to put in wooden floors and a carpet...as well as move the center console in front of the fireplace, as soon as I can afford longer speaker cables :p

I'm also going to work on making a temp. projector screen, 3.2m width.

Excuse the mess, this is literally 10min after moving everything in to the room.
