Hi There,

I am not sure if anyone on this can help me out.

This weekend I had the fortune of picking up four QuadII valve amps and two Quad22 Controllers (I think we call them pre-amps these days). The amps came as a bonus filler with some turntables I was really after...

Anyway - what I know about electronics is pretty dangerous.

I have tried two of the QuadII's and hey-presto, plug and play, it works... Obviously the equipment is aged and in desperate need of some restoring.

This I think is where my journey with valves will start...

The question I have is the following: all four of the amps are missing a valve! Yet the two i tried still work! What does this mean?

I suspect the units have been extensively modified before...

I have attached some pictures if anyone has any ideas.

Regards
JQ

ps. I also got a box with some spare valves...
