FOLKS .....

Have I missed something? From what I last read here this effort was continuing although enough has apparently been raised (has inflation been included in this prediction; what will be enough by the time treatment starts?) The previous post by Schalk indicated that this is going on - but no further news here. Where are we?

Where are we?

Right here... ;D

Gert has actually seen the amp sitting here, waiting for final "pre delivery service"

Dear Oom Johan, this has not gone away. The operation has already been done and regrettably Carly Piater will always be blind in her right eye. The left eye however has made remarkable progress in that she can see to a certain extent, which according to the specialist will improve in time as the eye gets used to working. The retina has attached almost perfectly and now sort of has to regenerate full function. Let us believe for Carly's sake that this is possible!

Getting the promotional stuff off the ground in the background has taken very, very long. In the end it seems we (the few who were interested in helping me to make this work) lost heart and the support got less and less. Finally there was one brave soul left standing (who does not want to be named). He  valiantly tried every contact in the book to pull some magazines in as this did need some promotion to really make it worthwhile. Somehow these mags did not want to get involved in this worthy cause. (too much of an effort / not lucrative enough / probably a self centred ploy by Valve Audio for "free" promotion or something)  :-\

I want to thank this last gentleman who shall remain anonymous because that is his wish. You gave me much needed support "Mr R" when the going was tough. Bless you for all your input and effort, and for also believing in the true aim of this project. I am now going to follow your advice and put it up for sale right here on the forum.

I would like to ask the moderator responsible for this section of the forum to tell us what would be the right and acceptable way of getting this underway as a "highest bidder gets the amp" sort of project. I know this is not the classifieds section, but it is not a sale for my own profit. The highest bidder gets to deposit his money directly into the TRUST FUND and once verified, the amp will be dispatched to that person. Once again I do not want to and for ethical reasons cannot handle this, apart from putting the amp up for sale. I need the forum to get involved in plotting the course forward now. This is the chance for someone on the forum of getting a R30 850 Predator for as high as the bid will go.

Please remember, the purpose here is to get money into the trust account for the benefit of children with ROP. Do not try to get the amp for as little as possible. Now is the chance of putting someone else's needs before your own.

I really think a minimum amount should be set, and if not reached, I'll sell it out of hand and get the buyer to deposit into the Trust Account.

Hi Schalk,

Let's take this offline, but in principle it seems doable. Unfortunately I'm no legal-eagle, so ideally we should have someone with such skills just go over it to make sure you don't have issues later on. Unfortunately this may also mean that you should have the results audited, so out goes the 'simple' idea...
