Well, it had to happen...

Finally completed the bedroom speakers, they are a bit of a slapdash design - not the wife's mosaic though  :-X - but sound better than the old mini-fi speakers... and they still run off the mini... am surprised that they are actually about as efficient as the old papercone jobbies.
They feature:
Drivers: 6" poly mid from ceiling speakers, 2/3" silly lil' tweet from same, 2.2uF bennic bipolar cap from same...
Cabinet: 20mm pine covered in 3mm mosaics, baffle 40mm pine, oak stained...
Cabinet: Slanted baffle for no reason other than I like the look and perhaps to shift the sound up a bit, stands are low-ish at 600mm
Cabinet: Sealed around 10 liters, needed to be close to wall.
Position: either side of bed, heavily pointed inwards... like having headphones on in bead... without the uhm restraints...

Sound is not as offensive as the drivers and x-o and slapdash design might suggest, not hi-fi. Beats the crap out of any minifi i've heard this side of those expensive micro-fi jobbies from denon and yamaha, easier to place though...

Future: am getting an old Dynaco fixed up and looking for a tuner and cdp to run on the dynaco...  ;D
