A while ago we were approached by (if I remember correctly) someone from UCT.
They offered to perform testing on amp for us using their latest Ap equipment.
The only proviso was that we would have to send amp down in batches as it would not be financially feasible to set up the whole test rig to test one amp.
Unfortunately as most distributors want their products back fairly quickly and wouldn't be too happy with us keeping amplifiers even longer while we got a batch together for shipping to the University.
Similar thing for speakers.
I have LMS sitting on a PC and have three mics, so measuring speaker response wouldnt be too difficult. Once again, it comes down to time, as it would be impractical to test one speaker at a a time .
The magazine also need consistency and either all products must be tested or none at all.
Could you imagine what would happen if we tested distributor A's amp and found it couldnt meet its output figures, but didnt test their closest competitor, who more than likely would fail a test too?
I still have access to a distortion analyser, some fancy scopes, and could put together a speaker load, so some testing is still possible.
