I havebeen follwing that thread just as closely and would like to give it a try, becasue the veneering is driving me bananas (note to self, claming odd shapes = not a good idea). Where does one buy the hide glue?

I did not even think that you still get it! I remember it from woodwork class in  school(many, may, many years ago :icon_naughty: ) and yes it does have quite a smell to it :gah:

I am not if it is Greg or Gregm whose father-in-law is in the carpentry business, but he may be able to help. It seems like the most common names are Bone Glue, Hide Glue or Pearl Glue.

Well, I cheat and use 3mm MDF backed veneer with hardwood inserts for the corners. Or go hardwood...
