okay the third audio project of mine was my car system - the car in question is a Polo GTI and the old system looked like this

amp rack behind the seats

the subwoofer

the sub pictured was a JBL GTO which is the same sub that metalmilitia used for his home build project - since then ive tried may other subs which included Morel ultimo's and JBL W15GTI mk2's and also many JL audio and DLS subs and ive tried loads of front speakers and headunits and amplifier combo's and ive now finally gotten tired of the car audio wanderlust and the need to change my equipment all the time

so for now i have the following equipment to install - hopefully it will be the last car system ive had to install - and the install will definitely be better looking than above

alpine 9887 headunit
SPL Dynamics S-7006 6 channel amp (3 way front stage)
Dynaudio MW162 midbass
Dynaudio MW142 3" midrange
Dynaudio MD102 tweeter
SPL Dynamics S-4002 amplifier (subwoofer amp)
a pair of resonant engineering REx 10d subwoofers
lots of audioquest and streetwires cables

some pics of this stuff - its all lying in the wardrobe ready to install when i have some time - its all going to be a totally SQ setup and not a boom and sizzle system

sub amp and subs

midrange and tweeters

midbass

audioquest speaker cable

streetwires interconnects

front stage amp

headunit in the car was being used with previous system before i pulled that out - is now working with the stock OEM speakers just to give some soft background music in the car while i drive

will update with pics when i complete that project - but for now its around R25k (retail) worth of stuff just lying in the wardrobe not installed  :( :(but i am beginning to lose my passion for car audio - cos i live at home but drive around in the car and thats now becoming even less and less so im maybe even contemplating selling it and just using the cash toward the home stuff

my apologies - here you go - heres that pic reposted ..... sorry for some reason i cannot edit my posts as i could  a few weeks back

at night with the lights on - no flash

with the flash used

those ports were for looks only and are not really part of the enclosure - we put them there cos it looked a bit too bare previously ie like so

and indeed home is the best place to live - but the comment was made in reference to the pictures on the previous page - not sure if you saw those - of the two systems at home  - but then again thats all entry level so not as interesting as the car stuff  ;)

sure - i did have a previous set of 2 way Dynaudio speakers installed for around two weeks - but they need 200+ hours to "run in" - just like the home stuff then i sold that to upgrade to the three ways and removed the amplifier and thats how the car has been for the last 5 to 6 months - will do some work on the car system but the plans i have involve lots of wood and fibreglass and elbow grease and im not sure whether i should just sell the system and do up the home system as i want or whether i should just install the stuff and call it a day with the car

Nice panel, congratualtions! I'm quite tempted to pick one of these up myself.

Is it true the SA version doesn't have a THX mode?

That's a very very VERY nice TV. I'm kinda tempted to ask you how much you paid for it. I think the 50" version of that one might be one I'm counting pennies for.

@Ken, This is the asia model, so I dont know if that's what the reason was for no THX. I'll say this though, that the "Cinema" & "Tru Cinema" modes are more than enough.

@dotvibe, I paid R13999 for this. The 50" is between R24K & R26K. For my viewing distance, this 42" is the biggest I will go.

Really? That's an unbelieveably good price!

I thought so too. As I had Panafrique quoting only on the 50" as they had no stock. And several local retailers (Durban) asking for R19k for the 42".

I'm very happy with the unit, I'm still watching on the presets, after tinkering with them, and the 600hz motion flow is a pleasure.

There are suggested setting for the Euro version in this review. They might be of some help:

Please do not judge me yet on how the setup looks. It is a work in progress :-D
Before:

Installed the bracket for new tv.

Hanged new tv

Got amp :-D

And Finally, when everything is done, it should look something like this:

Location: Centurion (Gauteng)
