You can count me in. I'd also be quite happy to assist in a blog and do monthly write ups or such. I think the best stance you can take as a dealer is one of being utterly neutral - doing demonstrations and such should allow your products to speak for themselves. Enigma I have to agree with you about the over zealous salesman approach, and as such I'd be happy to keep it to a specific thread / sub forum.

Guys, please have a look at how PFM do this as requested before, it is not over the top adverts, just helps cover costs without turning the place in to a link infested bazaar.
PFM has a large number of UK trade representatives that post, from UK retailers to UK manufacturer employees and even the owners of some brands yet they keep it tidy.

With regard to avatars etc, I agree we should be transparent if we are in the trade but last time I used my company logo and info this was considered advertising?????

So it sees the opinions on that are divided too. I will do whatever is considered compliance with the rules as far as that goes.

Trust me, if it was for the advertising spin off, I would have stopped wasting time here a long time ago.

I think the mentioned section will only enhance the forum, the more info we can get about products, the better it is.

one thing I saw on an american forum long time ago(forgot which one), is that some dealers/ manufacturers gave a product to the forum to audition. afaik each member participating was responsble to bring/send it to the next one, and write a little review on the forum.
I find that a great idea, for the members to gather some experience with the equipment, and for the dealers to make their product known and get some exposure...

I came onto his late, but would agree that, with the suggested control, it would be a good thing. Also agreed that on such a forum, comments (especially derogatory) should be OUT. On some forums such contributions are first moderated - not sure what amount of extra work that would involve.

...... but last time I used my company logo and info this was considered advertising?????

As I read it this is different - it will be a dedicated business forum. Following at that time you might also recall (hope I do correctly), that the feeling came that local manufacturers (dealers) could be encouraged in future by a more indulgent attitude.

Different? So I would use a different avatar and name there? No thanks, to complicated.

Have any of you read pfms trade policy?

We who indulge in this manufacturing game be poor kind Sir... Got a spare tot or two for a thirsty soul?  ;)
Either you're BIG, or you're mighty small...there's no in-between. Now I'm NOT big, dunno about Oom Johan or AV or Hi-Phib?  :'(  Also depends on the size or the weight of said review pieces. Some could go into small Postnet bags, while others need 30 to 60 Kg containers :-[

I simply meant that on such a forum you would be free to advertise without evoking criticism.

No need to go around the country. One trip to Cape Town is all that is required.

Also true. We can talk about the transport costs and we will worry about our injured backs later ;D Wait, I still have the mini scateboard the Maestro travelled on ;D
