I would not waste my time with the new Bond movie, but Taken is quite good. I actually want to buy the DVD. The Bank Job is also good as a drama. You can also look at re-mastered classics, always a good buy.

Poseidon, and Blown Away (oldie but goodie)
It's not the size of the sub, it's where you place it.

Das Boot

(I'm just saying that because years ago that was a generally well-recommended disc for showing off your sub-woofer. I bought the disc... but never got to play it... one day...)

Try Pink Panther 2008 for some pretty tight bass. Teh scene where Cluseu knocks a huge metal ball off a stand it it goes bouncing down the stairs. It sounds impressive as it is different to the usual "subwoofer" type things. It has quite a bit of midbass as well.

Tropic Thunder is a good choice. It features great cinematography and audio, it's also the best Ben Stiller film in ages.

Another film that really impressed me with it's great surround and brilliant visuals is The Spirit. Good to rent if you want to put your system trhough it's paces, not so good if you want to enjoy an actual film. If you roll with it it can be fun but most people find it pretty hard to swallow, firmly in Shoot 'em Up territory.

Yeah, was about to suggest Shoot 'em Up... Nothing like the sound of ricocheting bullets.

Must say, Bolt is superb.

One of my favourites as far as testing sound setup etc goes - the second Fast & Furious. The first 10 minutes is a surround tour de force, with high-powered cars and bikes, drifting scenes, and a thumping pop/hip-hop sound track - all gloriously dynamically recorded. Awesome.

It's a rubbish movie, but that first 10 minutes is superb! 8)

If I recall correctly, the racing scenes from the latest lot of Star Wars films really tested my system. Then of course some of the battle scenes from Lord of The Rings.

Transformers on Blu Ray  8)

On DVD Le Pacte des Loups (Brotherhood of the Wolf) there is a fight scene in slow motion where one of the characters swings around a staff and hits someone in the face with it. You can actually hear the sound of the blood spraying out of the guys mouth in your surround speakers. Very Cool.  ;D
