There is a fellow in Dbn (advert on AVSA) selling 45 of these for R2800.00 for the lot. This is seriously cheap at below R65 per motor, trouble is, he wants to sell the lot, one time.
Apparently there were some plans at some point to use these in a locally made turntable.
This is the ever popular belt drive motor as used on Rega Planar 2 and 3, Linn LP12, various Systemdeks, Manticore and just about everybody else who built a turntable in Europe between 1975 and 2000.
It is still current today but a number of manufacturers have moved to 18V and 24V versions of the same motor.
I am interested in a couple of these for projects and repairs for myself, any other tinkerers out there with plans on the horizon for grand engineering exploits of the 33 1/3 revolutionary kind? At these prices using 3 motors is not even extravagant.
Motors are bare shaft and require two 0.22 mfd caps to run directly from 50Hz mains at 250 rpm.
How feasible would it be to get say 5 folks to spend R560 for which you could thus get NINE (9) motors…. Current price on RS components over R600.00 each…
