Headphone amp + DAC?
« on: November 12, 2008, 09:35:20 am »
So, Gert, I hear you make a pretty mean headphone amplifier? :) What are the chances of placing an order?

Hehe, I knew it was gonna come up at some point when the Skinster reared his ugly head again ::) :D The one he got was actually a prototype that was based on the design I did towards the end of last year. That thread died a slow, agonising death...

But, I've had a few enquiries for it and I believe it does show tremendous scope so I've been thinking of incorporating it with a GerDac V2 (no, don't spam me yet ;D). So, you'll have a USB input and a pretty potent DAC with line outs and an HP output. It's basically just re-packiging what I've done so far to make it more appealing for a bigger market.

Then, the V2.1 will have dual dacs and full balanced capability - something in the league of the Musical Fidility X-Dac but at half the price (sounding hopefully better as well).

Yeesh! You know how to keep your customers interested, hey ;)

I have heard the MF X-DAC and in my humble opinion the V1.01 version of the Gerdac already sounds better

Teehee, so I can make it more expensive? ;D

That is interesting ;) I like the MF unit for the versatility of the inputs, shouldn't be too hard to do.

Hey - This is the DIY Marketplace!

The phrase "Dont break my balls" by Luc Besson as Enzo in The Big Blue comes to mind. ;)
Caution, whatever you read above, may, wonder of wonders, contain some level of jocularity.
