Not only interested, but if petrol were cheaper I'd drive down and collect it myself.

Geez Andre, you turn me Blue with all these nick names that you use! :)

Couldn't you choose something a bit more easier for old 'uns to pronounce, let alone spell... :)

Hi

@Joel

I'll make a plan and ask (you) nicely first ;)

@ Devillears
@ F.D

You have just made me choke on the cottonwool. An old 'family' trick passed to me by the wannabe son-in-law of the late Marlon Brandy. The only thing that made me recover quickly from death's door was when the resident moll (mrs mafioso) asked me where I kept my will  ;D

ISIS Audio - manufacturer of the fine ISIS 3030 tube amplifier
Genesis - Brilliant interconnects hand-crafted in Bloemfontein
Mars Tube Audio - Tube amplifiers, tube guitar amplifiers and amp kits
Versatronics - weird integrated amp with pool-balls as knobs (believe it or not!!) (http://www.websmith.co.za/vt/amp.html)

The irony of this thread comes to light again...

Wasn’t Wim also a "local hero"? Makes one wonder - do we really appreciate who/what we have?

This morning spoke to a friend and we discussed the matter that we must take great care of our audio "gurus" but then again not just the audio "gurus". Friends, family. Isn’t the audio "gurus" our friends (and family for all practical reasons) after all?

I'm drenched in sadness tonight.

Be safe friends.

D

PS - And lets not allow stupid shite to come between us. Ant, I never meant any harm - I commented as a friend to another.  :'(  :'(  I never meant to insult you nor did I want to cause harm. I feel terrible.

i just wanna say to the creator of this product: well done.

we south africans lack the self belief to do it for ourselves allthough politics might have played a role in this. i do not wish to discuss politics but:

we are the 14th highest energy consuming country in the world. ( check wikipedia )
we have built some of the finest howitzers and armoured vehicles the world has ever seen
we are a leader in heavy haulage trains

and yet we do not have a company that produces cars designed, branded and built in sa. (our own sa cars, not just built here under license);
what about a hi-fi brand ?

i know about black dog audio ( no disrespect meant)

but you know what i mean, large scale production by south africans for south africans

finally what can we do to bring all the unsung heroes to the fore?
maybe a helpline where you can register your design and then send it for testing to avsa?

when is someone going to build the sa hi-fi institution for design and research, where you can just study hi-fi's !!!!

urghh!!!  but to dream

see ya later

I read several articles on Sonor Audio loudpeakers in AVSA about 8 to 10 years ago. Got in touch with Roy and reviewed a pair of Sonor Audio Osmuim standmounts with a Valve Audio Exclame 80 stereo amplifier. What a life changing experience. I experienced true hi-end audio sound for the first time and fell in love with it. I have progressed since then to a set of Sonor Audio Vega loud speakers and a Valve Audio Exclame 100 stereo amplifier. I also had the wonderful experience recently of meeting Schalk of Valve Audio and listened to a vinyl record played through his first prototype Eclame 50 stereo amplifier. The emotion true life-like audio, so pure so moving can give, that it uplifts the soul above all the tempory circumstances!!

I support these products because of the enjoyment and satisfaction I get from the sound they produce. At the AVSA show I visit 95% of the display rooms, but always returns to the Sonor Audio/Valve Audio show room. What an experience!! Vivid Audio is great, but to rich for my pocket. I always compare imported products to these SA brands, to evaluate how good they actually are.

I support Nico from Lifestyle Audio, as I get friendly and outstanding service. No problem with resale/upgrade of my SA products. Can not say the same of well known high end audio retailers, selling imported brands, with reference to resale/upgrade issue.
