Yes Tom, it has a remote. The RA04 came without the remote control circuitry.

Great amp that, what speakers did you run it with and do you have the matching CDP?

Great entry level amp indeed! But the upgrade bug bit - want to go the seperates route. Mated with Cambridge Azur 840C and Kef iQ3.

Ah great stuff man. Have you ever considered adding a power amp to the set up and leaving is as a pre? Something like an RB 1070 or 1080, the former being 130 watts and the latter being 200 watts, both into 8 ohm? Just a thought. But good luck with the sale

Eish, seems like this sale is going nowhere slowly  I might have to consider selling my iQ3s, as the RA05 and iQ combination is just not synergising well, to my liking. Any speaker recommendations, other than the usual suspects? (B&W) Using VDH The Name and CS122 cabling, so I doubt whether changing cabling would make improvements in this case. 

Otherwise I'll have to add a Nad power amp

Hi Nadfan,

I faced a similar problem a few years back when I owned a Rotel integrated + Rotel CDP and kef then celestion speakers. The sound just didnt gel and i changed the cabling to VD Hull CS122 which improved the sound slightly. I then changed to a Nad C350 + Nad C341 CDP and wow, the sound settled down and I could listen for hours without any fatigue.

the inexpesive option is to snap up one of the Nad 3020 amps available on the forum. I can assure you they have lots of current for a mere 20watter. Check for the one with Pre-Amp outputs so you may upgrade to a bigger power amp later.

Why not change your speakers? The usual suspect would pair nicely with that amp.
As for the old Nad, that would be a backward move.

Stephen, Mistro thanks for the suggestions. The problem is that I can only afford to sacrifice either the amp or the speakers at this stage. Whatever the change, it will have to be an improvement but I'm also working with a strict budget. The idea is then to maybe upgrade the other next year. Any reasonable offers on either the RA05 or the iQ3 are welcome. Needless to say, the speakers are absolutely immaculate, as new complete with all accessories and packaging. They have been in use for only 1 year since new. Demos are welcome.
