I think Micheal Buble' has got some excellent music.

He covers some excellent standards, and he has a unique style. But his original material is not on the same level. A few weeks ago I was playing some Mel Torme, and then played some Buble. Unfortunately, this showed him (MB) up; Mel was simply classier... purer, somehow. And it also became obvious that there was a lot more dynamic range compression applied to MB's recordings.

My response was perhaps a little blunt!
What I should have said was that I feel his ticket prices are not justified imo.
Funnily enough, I was listening to him earlier today. I also listen to Sinatra from time to time...

These acts were already trawling Aussie RSL clubs as hasbeens back in the 90s. Musically they'd have nothing to offer other than rehashing their one or two hits of the 80s. No thanks, not even if it was free.

I think you all miss the point.

This is not about musical tallent. If it were then chuck U2, Coldplay and almost any current artist into that lot. They are just rehashing what those before them have done.

This is meant as entertainment, a bit of nostalgia if you like and you will find followers of this sort of thing in many areas of human endeavor.

Daniel is pissed off because the tickets are a rip-off for MB, however what does ticket price have to do with how good of an artist he is? We are ripped left right and centre in this country, taxes, car prices, hi-fi prices these are all likely going to cost you a lot more in the end than the price of a puny ticket, so bleat more about those.

I agree with Shaun about Mel, however we are unlikely to see him here anytime soon unless you attend a John Edwards show and he gets channeled or something ... However as far as live shows go, again, it comes back to entertainment. I think we all get stuck in the hi-fi studio listening mindset.
Caution, whatever you read above, may, wonder of wonders, contain some level of jocularity.
