Ever heard of DMX? That would be awesome to have in your car.

Anything involving or connected to the word 'awesome' is guaranteed to be the antithesis of my tastes!

So you have no desire to be able to choose from dozens of genre grouped channels that play songs non-stop without ads or the small minded utterings of deejays who should really just be publicly flogged?

99% of the music content available today is just awesomely bloody awful!

So... how many of you have signed the "Bring LM Radio to SA" petition?

To be absolutely honest. No. Not at all. I have full access to the DSTV audio bouquet, free of charge, and I have no interest in it whatsoever - never use it. When I listen to music, I want a specific band, or performance, and then I listen to it for 45 or 60 minutes, doing nothing else. Random, arbitrary noise in the background from a radio or satellite doesn't interest me at all - music for supermarkets is what it is.
The campus radio stations, Chai (I'm not Jewish) and Radio Today are just fine if I want a bit of 'talk radio'

But then there is no accounting for tastes.

I have the griffin and works so so. Decided to ditch that idea aswell as the unsightly cables etc and opted for a permanent device that is capable of playing from usb stick or hd, ipod, iphone and aux. Works well, integrates with steering controls plus RDS and good quality playback depending on mp3 quality of course. Check out www.gromaudio.com.

There was someone selling a Harmon Kardon play & drive kit on here some time back. Only iPod/iPhone compatible though. Seems to be quite impressive from the specs!

Seems like no one had any good experiences. I have an iTrip- bought from a store in Sandton City- name??- Could be Electronic and Sound. It works really well. It scans the frequencies that is free, and gives you 3 options t         o tune to. As you drive through the frequency changes, is easy to set to new unused frequency. And it works like a charm on my iPod.
It was more expensive than anything I saw offered elsewhere, but worth  the extra bucks.
If this is torture, chain me to the wall!

A friend of mine has an i-trip.

It really does not work well at all. Very noisy. And was a pain to find an unsused band (in cape town anyway ,seems it is better in joburg?) I am sure it is better even in the platteland.
His b class merc has an aux in inside the glove box anyway ,so not sure why het got it. We promptly ditched it and rather used the aux in.

I used one for a while in a new second hand car before I changed the radio , and vowed to never waste money on fm transmitters and rather hack the car radio or buy a different radio.
