Logitech Squeezebox Touch
« on: February 01, 2012, 09:49:02 am »
Where would I source this locally?

Have2Have have it listed at R3022.87 which seems a good price, anyone dealt with them? Anywhere else I can find these?

Thanks.

I have bought 1 and have one on order via takealot - cheaper than DIY importing. Local logitech agents , DCS , do not import the music/streamer products as it's too small a market and no one there understands em , so its only via direct import you can get one. R3200 door to door is a good price IMHO . Takes about a month to get here.

FYI. If you buy off amazon and use myus.com for international forwarding after shipping and taxes it seems to work out roughly the same as takealot's R3200.

So seems like a good price

The R3200 is all in , nothing extra , they debit your CC and either you collect (I prefer it as they are near me) or they deliver - no other hidden charges , no customs delays , no clearing issues , no SA postal authorities holding you to ransom etc.
Simple and relatively painless..

I bought mine on eBay from a place called Black Swamp Audio and the service was very good. Of course, I then still had to pay customs fees etc. Total came to just over R2500 or so, but I think the R/$ was a lot more favourable then. Also itching for another one. My only gripe is the small screen / text size.

Thanks guys,

It seems like an ebay purchase will work out about the same as buying from Have2Have or Takealot.

Rodney seeing as you've dealt with Takealot I'm inclined to go that way.

Iv'e bought a lot of stuff from them , when they were take2 as well, only issue I had was on a pair of headphones I deemed faulty , it took about 2-3 weeks for them to refund , they evaluted the hphones with an Ipod (akg 702's) and they actually sent a team over to my house to hear them on my dedicated headphone rig when I told em an ipod will show zilch (bass was slightly crunchy on deep thwacks)
apart from that , I have spent about R30-40k with em and it's all been good.
It really isnt worth saving a coupla R100 for the flea bay/DIY clearing excercise.
The touch is pretty useless display wise if its not right next to you , but ipads, itouch. iphones,  androids cels  etc all have free aps to control it , the server does as well (nice on a laptop) so you can use any number of devices to act as a remote with a decent artwork display.

I've been buying from Takealot since 2008...back when they were still Take2.co.za. Never had an issue with them and they are generally brilliant with keeping you up to date with tracking numbers, order progress etc. If they say 2-3 days or 5 days...thats how long itll be - only ever had ONE late order in 5 years. :) good luck

I have been using Takealot back when they were The Shopping Matrix and thats going back ten years or so and always received excellent service from them. Wouldnt want to guess how much money I have spent with them over the years, ;)
