Class A will naturally run hotter than any other design.

Sounding like a broken record here:

The amp wasn't putting out this heat in Class A mode. It was doing this in Class A/B, sitting idle. I didn't have the guts to switch it to Class A.

Not a reference to my post, I hope? I was aiming at your dislike of the MF, not this particular amp.
"And if this is in fact 'normal' for this amp, I've got another reason not to like them"

Just throw the damn mode switch between the "A" and "AB", see if there are any effects on the FET pwr supply?

Ah, ok :D You not gonna change my mind though. Still not gonna like MF :P

Put down R3000 (for replacement of the output stage) and I'll gladly do it. Haven't seen a good fireworks show in ages ;D

Agree, something sounds very screwy there. My valve amps don't even reach that temperature!  :D

You never know with musical fiddle tea. Like Gearslave I am scared of them. Sometimes just to ambitious for the manufacturing costs.

Once upon a time (around the time of the F series I think) uncle Schalk used to service these...
Ask him.

LoL, the switch is always flipped! I used the amp for the best part of a year in class A. Just to be clear, its not that i beleive that amp will blow itself or anything. Its just that I am curious if its norm. If its not, then i will have to see. And Mike.... I know that you are aalways bored! Always building an amp or your specialty speakers. You wana audition this amp with your setup for a while? No risk to yourself ofcourse. I know that you have some MF stuff with you. Best to compare apples with Apples. 8)

Haahaaa - my MF stuff are the kiddie toys compared to the F19 & F25! Not quite the same type of apples...

Am I going to refuse the play time though? Hell no. My doors are open! :)
We have that other thing to talk about too, so ... PM you I will

@Spuds: Hey! It's all follows it's natural order, just you wait and see (...you'll see an even bigger pile of TTs to be precise  :-[)
