So ...  8)

I made an impulse buy late yesterday and got the Mission 8 cinema pack:
2x MV-8e tower
MV-Ce center
2x MV-DSe surrounds
MS-8e subwoofer

I got the guy to drop the price to R7k when I showed him the store in Pta selling for R6.2k (shipping to here seems to be about R800 for such a large bulky item).

I hooked them all up last night, but was only done by about midnight, so couldn't really listen to anything at volume without waking the family. Briefly played a few tracks this morning before work (Pavarotti, Kaiser Chiefs and Echoes of Nature: Thunder). First impressions very good, sounds very clear and crisp. Also, I suspect they're able to play incredibly loudly... At -15 on the volume, I cannot hear somebody next to me talk, and the volume can go all the way to +18 according to the manual.... I doubt I'll go any higher than -15 ever, and for midnight listening (I played some scenes from The Matrix) -38 was the way to go, and still sounded remarkably good.

Thanks for all the advice from everybody! I never even heard about Mission before I joined this forum, so would never have thought to buy them and would probably have ended up buying Sony or something. I would probably not have known better anyway though I guess. I'll keep all the packaging and manuals in case I ever want to flog them again, another thing I learnt from this forum -- normally I just throw all that stuff away.

Are those also waveguided? The Missions that I have are fussy in terms of their positioning but they sound even better when they're just right.

I don't know... Here are the manuals if you want to take a look:

Read the manual and didn't see anything for waveguides so play around with the speakers first directly facing you and then slightly off-centre and vary from 15 to 45 to see which sounds better in terms of instrument positioning.
