LF: Stereo amplifier, budget around R1500.

I'm looking for a stereo amplifier, preferably a Pioneer, a vintage one like the SA-508/608/708 would be absolutely perfect, but NAD has always sounded great to me, and I would also give Rotel or something similar a go. Marantz would most probably be out of my price range, but they sound great to me.

I'm in Honeydew/Randpark Ridge.

I can't believe that Marantz hasn't sold yet. I'm sending a PM. If that turns out to be too good to be true, I'll look into the NAD C 315 (Black Economic Empowerment certified nogal).

I was itching to buy that marantz, but opted to build my own integrated. Building it costs a bit more but i can now tune it exactly to my needs.

A client of mine is selling a vintage Pioneer A-447 system, including speakers, a tuner and some kind of a multi CD player thing. I placed an ad for him on here in December last year.

He wanted R1700 for the whole thing, which might be difficult to pack and ship cheaply. I am going to see him on Fridayagain, so if you are keen on it, let me know. I might be able to get him to split up the system.

I am in final negotiations for the C315 from Klyv. It looks like a great amp for my purposes, and a very good price too.

Shipping that amp, with insurance will be under R500. More like R300 or R250, thus you will be getting a Marantz, like you sound that you want, and it will still fall in your budget amount.

Thanks for the offer Stephen, but I'm going to get the NAD. My current amp died on me, and I like the fact that I can get the NAD tonight already. From the reviews it also seems like it would suit my speakers, and sound preference.

I'm am tempted to get it anyway, but my wallet will have to cool down for a week or two. I would like to give it a listen, and compare it with the NAD.
