You can passivate brass too , in chromic acid , leaves a VERY nice "crushed" type gold finish and is resistant to tarnishing , a urethane 2 part water clear coating will help to make it good for a long time. The real problem is that over time NOTHING barring plating works for a totally maintenance free finish.

Current system: Squeezebox Touch , Z-Sys RDP-1 , PS Audio DAC, Bryston 4B ST , Audiolab 8200mb Monoblocks, Canton Ergo 120dc or Meridian DSP5500 speaker

it's times like these that i wish i was one of those people that can go and buy that prestwood and plastic tv stand from boardmans and be done with it.
but NOOOOOOO, i want a stand made from real wood and funny metals that is hard to keep clean .

does anybody know of a place in centurion that can polish brass pipes for me?

i tried it myself last night and it is possible , but not feasible.
these pipes have quite a lot of scratches and old age stains on them an i am just not up for the job.
