I could not agree more.Anytime statistics are mentioned I do to a certain extent laugh.Any statistician can ensure that stats show you what they want.A good example of this is the CPI where basic food is purchased from xyz the cost of petrol has gone through the roof and don't loose sleep about the cost of electricity.all these are basic commodities.Crime stats are hidden from the population after all we don't want our great police force to look bad.Where are the stats on rape and other miscellaneous robberies.in which your dwelling is robbed and your privacy feels violated.Mafioso I do feel for you because I have been there before. Now I live in a fortress with armed response, electric fencing and dogs that will attack.Welcome to GP
Thanks!
Yesterday at 4pm again

It is as hot as hazes here and I'm busy doing maintenance on my milling machine's gearbox. My garage doors open to a car length driveway and then directly on to a busy road.
The one door was open, I was halfway up on a small stepladder and the dog was in its basket near the door.
I have beams across the garage doors and these were switched off as I had just seen out a visiting friend.
Just after getting up on the ladder and working on the mill's gearbox, something made me turn around and here about 1m away, stood a man watching me. I asked him 'What are you doing here?!!' and 'Get out of here!!' and I made for the open garage door and the tresspasser followed me outside.
The road outside is always busy and I managed to stop a car and asked the occupants to call the cops at 10111.
Just then, the son of the 7/11's owner drove past, saw the situation and helped me detain the bloke who didn't offer any resistance.
I went inside and called the sector SAPS who arrived minutes later.
Then the entire rigmarole of statement writing etc started, the bloke got handcuffed and put in the back of the cop car.
This morning, I had a call from a lady at Claremont SAPS wanting to know if everything is OK. She informed me that the perp from yesterday is still in the cells at Claremont SAPS while they are checking him out.
This is now incident #6 in a little over 3 weeks.
Another lesson. In addition to every single door and window closed in our home at all times and every g*ddam day, working with my workshop door open for fresh air and a breeze is also now verboten

Much earlier yesterday morning, I heard a bit of a commotion outside and had a look. It was a cop vehicle and the occupants told me they were busy with a roadblock - for the 2nd time in 35+ years.
Btw, the bloke from yesterday was not the perp from the earlier episodes.
The Southern suburbs are overrun with tattered (and well-dressed) jobless from outside our borders.
Three cheers for wide open RSA borders. Live and let live, so they say.
