It's all because of these needle-drops weirdoes ...

 ;D

Hey watch it...  ;)

Hopefully it will prompt proper Vinyl stores to return to SA or places like Look & Listen, Musica, etc. to start stocking Vinyl again.
Europe is still full of these where one can buy brand new vinyls of the shelf.

(Ssh, I'm waiting for his comment :) It's Monday, he's back to work, probably not in a good mood...  ;D)

I don't get it - music industry has been wining about "losses" due to illegal copying decades before digital.
Then when digital came along, the wine turned into a permanent shriek! They are going bankrupt, the artist are working for free, blah, blah.

But instead of discontinuing this whole digital "droppings" proliferation and going to vinyl which is perfect for the "correct" income collection & profit distribution, they are still pushing digital!?!

Whattaheck?

It doesn't matter what source they think of next, there will be a way to copy it the very next day.

I remember in the "olden days", the inner sleeves on LP's used to state: "Home taping is illegal and it is killing music"... :)

The industry will never get rid of piracy, etc. and it is a double edged sword. If everybody buys the music, the industry will make more money, hence it might become cheaper to buy original.
But because of piracy the companies make less money, hence you pay out of your @ss for music in order for them to make a profit.

I "taped" most of my vinyls in the 80's to listen to in my car and to have a taped copy in order not to play the vinyl too much, because you might damage it.
So I guess I was also part of the problem then... :-\

But vinyl is different this time around. People want the actual disc in hand.

Some of the comments are pretty accurate regarding the music industry.

Nice to see vinyl being recognised again, as long as I can still get it cheap :D

Did anyone see the car record player in 'The Green Hornet' last night?
LF: Cheap but decent interconnects so I can try to hear the difference, or not.

Just another viewpoint. I wonder how many copies I have of Private investigations? Had it on tape and then bought it on Vinyl, then bought it on cd and again on higher resolution remastered cd, also have it on a few compilations and DVD discs and when blu-ray came out bought it on that as well.
How many times should I purchase the same dang song  ;)

I always wanted the disc, the cover, the notes, the artwork, the get-up-and-flip, etc.
All part of the music & artist experience...

And vinyl was always comparatively cheaper to get. And "aged" better for the consumer - last year's editions would price drop much quicker than CDs.

I say; original first editions on vinyl at a popular price, with extra $x.xx for MP3 version downloads per song/side/title/whatever.
Is this going to eliminate the piracy? Of course not - nothing will. But if the vinyl original is sold at a popular price, I wouldn't even consider a digital copy.

Btw, I don't engage in other activities while I enjoy music. Neither jogging nor chess playing.

Vinyl rules as long as it it is imported 180gm + .Even my Proceed CD player does not match a decent Vinyl pressing as far as quality of sound is concerned. However to run Vinyl is expensive.Stores selling vinyly hardly exist as S.A. does not understand the markets. Most local CD's are junk as the louder the pressing is recorded at the better for sales.

Don't agree, they'd be even more expensive - cartel pricing would prevail. The fact of the matter is there's far too much sh1t and far too little good stuff released by the labels. Couple this with iTunes where singles are the order of the day and large volumes of album sales are forever a thing of the past, especially amongst youngsters. Piracy has always existed and will continue, regardless of medium.

As to vinyl - I'm still waiting for someone to demonstrate it's superiority to me to me, and so long as record co's continue to butcher cd releases needledrops have my vote :D
