Anyone else noticed that their extra-hot is no longer as hot as it used to be ?

This is just not curing my hangover like it usually does :o

I suppose it goes in batches. I have noticed that the cape branches seem to be a bit cooler than the durban branches so I usualy go one notch up.

Thing to remember though is that these sauces etc are made from natural ingredients. Sometimes the chillies just arent as hot so the batch wont be as hot.

Its a long time since I've last had Nando's after a few disappointing meals there. Perhaps try a Romana pizza at Capuccinos for a change on Nando's chicken for a hangover cure.. ;D The nuclear chillie bombs hidden in that one filled my eyes with tears and no amount of beers or milkshakes made any difference. I slept that evening with a fever and will spare you the details of the nuclear meltdown the following morning... :'(

I have started going over to that Wasabi stuff. If you stick it on your tongue and let the vapours move through to the nose. Mmmm. Head explosion, but just for a few second without any of the side effects.

I'm yet to find any take away type food that's hot anymore.  :(

I made steak the other day, and an entire bottle of Bushman's Hot Az Hell gave a nice taste, but little burn. Everyone else who tried to eat it didn't share my sentiment on the matter. Many people looking for milk etc...

+1 on wasabi used in excessive quantities.  Clears sinuses quite nicely.

You need to get Bushman's Dynamite !! Bit pricey at R140 a 125ml bottle but it is the hottest sauce I have ever tasted. Matured 5 years in oak barrels and has 70% cocoa drak chocolate in the mix.

For everyday burn I use Bushman's revenge or Nali

I use Veri-Peri for the extra kick. Was a Nando's fan until I found this. Nandos has a lemony taste but Veri-Peri has a more spicy sting. Can be used for marinating as well. Not too badly priced and most large grocers stock them.

I quite like my Banditos Habanero (much hotter than Nandos Xtra Xtra hot and great fruity taste) but I revere its kick. Otherwise Tabaso is still one of my favourite hot sauces.

I had a standard "Hot" at Sun City about 8 years ago that actually burnt me under my fingernails - you can imagine the sensation in my mouth.  :o
I'm considering moving up to "Extra Hot" because they do seem to have less kick these days.

If you are a fan of Tabasco, try Lea & Perrins hot chilli sauce.  Very much the same, but nicer in my opinion.
