What player you using? Check its not sending 5.1 or some encoded format your tv can't speak. Or that your audio output device in control panel is set to incorrect one.

Also be careful with holy water, a fine mist only, otherwise you may short something.

I have no idea what I did, but I am happy to report:

HDMI <===does indeed===> HDMI! Audio & Video

So just as I was playing with it nicely - youtubing here & there - the Dell's battery ran flat and the PC went into hibernation...

Glad to hear you got it sorted, I've never had hdmi problems with my pc though Hdmi from pc to AVR and from AVR to LCD tv

I should have given you a shout earlier, but figured this could not be too much of a problem to sort out. The trick is in holding your hand above your head to represent a shower head while dancing and singing.

I drove all round Wilkoppies yesterday looking for a 12M HDMI cable, currently using a 5M cable but that is too short. Scoop sells them for about half the price of anyone else but I think they're probably closed till next week, no reply to my email enquiry yet.

Yep - they are exactly double the price of Scoop. Not urgent, I will first wait to hear from Scoop, otherwise I'll bite the bullet and buy one length, although I would really like two lengths.
