The Beatles or the Stones
« on: December 20, 2011, 11:34:36 pm »
So, I got into an argument with a friend - a silly argument at that - about which band is better. He's a huge Stones fan but me, I rep Beatlemania. If you had to choose one or the other, which would it be and why?

I'd really like the older members opinion on this but anyone should feel free to chip in.

Cheers

Rolling Stones. Their music was a lot more varied and interesting than the Beatles were and it was their combination of blues and rock & roll that layed the foundation for rock music. I'm partial to both but typically listen to a Beatles compilation whereas with the Stones I'm more inclined to listen to their albums.

Up until I read KR's autobiography I was a Stones man. Now, not so much.

I think the Beatles last two albums were genius, but a lot of what they put out before then was just pure crap.

Beatles! Not really a Stones fan. While I do enjoy some of their music, I enjoy a lot more of the Beatles music :)

The Beatles composed more musical stuff and so because I like music I prefer to listen to the Beatles.
The Stones on the other hand were more into Stage shows with Mick strutting around on stage with his HUGE mouth and no shirt etc. Two totally different acts and in their category they where the best.(at the time). I think that there are better live acts and better composers today though.

Whilst I like some of the Stones music, to me the Beatles are tops of the two bands.

^^^ Aside from John Lennon the Beatles were a bunch of talentless hacks.
