Some pics of my last restore
« on: December 16, 2011, 04:12:40 pm »
Before. Either it wasn't built well or someone hasn't been kind to it.

After. It was stripped down to the last bolt, washed and then rebuilt. Busy warming it up with massive doses of Massive Attack to bring it up to temperature.

Each channel does a solid 215WRMS into 8ohms. These were short tests as my dummy load in the background started cooking real quick.

I haven't touched the protection circuit yet. I think it only starts becoming a problem at lowish impedances - running into 8 ohms is a total breeze.

Gert,

The power capacity of dummy loads can be usefully increased by putting them in a container of water (- though not 10x so!). I can pump >100W into my 20W resistors for well over a minute.

If the container is clean you can have audio coffee afterwards.

And when you're done with your testing, just add coffee granules, milk & sugar. Very energy efficient, nothing goes to waste! ;)
