If anyone has a remote that will work with the Denon 3805 I will pay you for it! Or maybe I should just get the Harmony?

Go for the Harmony. You won't be sorry.

But will it be able to replicate all the commands for the Denon?

My remote does the basics, like volume and power, but the functions on the membrane thing are no longer visible, so I can't change input source and surround parameters from it. I am very tempted to open it up and have a peek, but I fear that might be the end of it.

So long as you open carefully and remember the layout (assuming it's not a single mould) then there shouldbe no issues. Remove batteries first to avoid shorting, get some cotton buds and methylated spirits. Clean the conacts that aren't working too well/at all, reassemble and voila - as long as the contacts haven't been murdered through excessive pressure applied when they weren't workin too well all should be good again.

Thanks Muze! I will see if I can do this without killing the thing. My main concern is opening it up without breaking any clips or tabs. I only see two screws in the battery compartment.

Where does one buy meths these days? Supermarket?
