Surely one of the dealers on here can sort you out with a 2nd hand setup. Then the insurance can pay the shop.

LF: Cheap but decent interconnects so I can try to hear the difference, or not.

Does dion have listening rooms though?

well the one in Durban has renovated - but the set i heard previously in the old listening room actually sounded pretty good - and i listened to something i know pretty well ie the track entitled "Panther" by Marcus Miller from the Legends of Jazz blu-ray - it sounded pretty detailed and warm - if you dont like a warm sound and prefer a lean brighter sound then you will probably not like this set - the sub was also one of the tightest subs i heard for that size of sub

probably though because of the circumstances and settings it sounded good whilst when the other people heard it ..... it could have been busier and probably had different settings on the receiver

BUT

to ME the set sounded more than decent - only thing is that my main system is way higher end than this and if i purchase it then its as a secondary bedroom setup and im not going to spend that much on a secondary setup (im getting by with spending just around 55% of that for a similar type of setup)

Those were the MV something Missions. Mission did have a slump at one point and I think this was one of them. I've got the MX5's and I think they give others in their range a run for their money.

come dude ..... its got nothing to do with slumps and things like that - every brand has entry level stuff and then climb up the range - the MV range is obviously missions entry level and for the price they are not as bad as you think given that not everyone can spend as much as you did ...... there will be many people out there who will consider this stuff a huge upgrade to the all in one sony or samsung systems that they have

as much as you would want to look down upon that stuff there would be guys here who have stuff where they will look down at your missions and say that it is too entry level for them to look at .... so you have to look at things in perspective - at R9k the guy wants a receiver as well as speakers to go with them - he cant get a set of speakers for R10k only or a receiver for R10k only ..... thats not the level he is looking at since he doesnt have that cash

so yes we get it ..... Mission does make better speakers than this but those are more expensive  ;) lets try to help the guy get stuff within his budget

I'm sure the MX3's are the entry level and the M33i's were before that. What if you go for a good quality receiver now and then save a little for your speakers 2nd hand? Trying to buy receiver and speakers now you're bound to compromise on something.

Thanks for every one's input.
I think what I have decided on is to gun for a T748
Friends tell me to get the best Receiver now, and get speakers later, rather than to compromise now because I'm Itching.
Wife asked me nicely... very nicely... to get the best, because she knows I will end up spending cash again I'f I'm not happy now. ie wasting money.

At the end of the day, I loved how the nad sounded. When I had decent speakers, it was warm and cozy, but had punch on tap when called for.
I'm going to stick with brand now, then take 2 or 3 months, collect some cash, and come to you guys for advice in speakers. Perhaps keep one eye on classifieds for something decent in the 6 - 8K region that will fit with the T747 or 8

In the mean time I will stick with those JAudio speakers that I cannot even find on google.

The baby Marantz is fine for smaller rooms. I'd also suggest going for a more powerful AVR.

I'd spend the bulk on speakers and upgrade the AVR later.

And your friends here tell you the same thing ;D

I know and understand the feeling of wanting something new now and settle for a setup less ideal instead of rather waiting and getting a setup that is way better, I have done that far too often ;)

Solved.
Getting that T748 today hopefully if PNG Digital in brooklyn gets back to me in time.
Also Grabbed those Monitor Audio's from Pappa3 before any one else gets the chance. Paid for. Just need to get the co-workers at the salt mine to understand that I need to leave a little earlier today :-D
Edenvale to Randfontein, then to Brooklyn...
I will use those cheapie JA-Audio speakers as rears until I can afford a set of Monitor Audio RXFX's

Dion in the Kolonade has a Marantz Sr5005, demo unit going for R4000.
Been sitting there for a while now.
Upgrading is just as certain as death and taxes.
