Unlikely. ABSA atm's seem pretty popular targets for card skimming and it would seem some links into the bank. My wife's Investec card was skimmed at one of their ATMs last week, my father in law's abot a month prior. Luckily we get SMS'd everytime a transaction is processed and the card was cancelled before the pricks could get carried away. If your bank doesn't offer free sms' everytime there's movement on your account I'd recommend switching banks.

And I was drawing money across from the Alberton City Mall......better check it out. Nedbank has just started sending sms's after each transaction. Bit slow (couple of years slow) but at least its going now.
I used to have SUPER POWERS.
But my therapist took them away. :vsad:

About 8 months ago i was advertising some audio equipment on the AVSA website, and this guy called me and wanted my bank details to pay the money into my account. He then called me moments later and said  the money has been paid in. He mailed me the proof of payment from FNB ,the real thing, with the fnb tree and everything,a sms even came through to my cell phone from fNB, but he wanted me to send the equipment with greyhound bus. I then became suspicious, and went to the bank, and done enquiries. The lady at enquiries said that sms is from FNB bank. So i went to absa where i used to bank, just to find out that the money is not in my account. When i phoned back he never answered. They are so sly,you must be a step ahead of them

What is the physical method by which they can do this ??? What do you look out for ? Extra scanners stuck over the card slot etc?

Guys I'm worried about Zee. Made a purchase about 2 months ago for R800. Have not received the speakers. He says that there were family issues hence the delay. I have now asked for a refund. He promised refund and the speakers for free. Not too worried bout speakers now. Been a few days now. Still awaiting deposit.
Is he a con artist? Don't know... But so far looks like one until proven otherwise.

I've bought from Zee before, and he went out of his way (literally) to accomodate me. Maybe he's just really having a hectic time.
It's not the size of the sub, it's where you place it.

And how does having a "hectic time" justify Zee defrauding Zaru and the Hi Phibian. I am of course taking the Zaru and the Phibian stories at face value. I dont know Zaru but I have had many dealings with the Phibian who IMO is the nicest trader in Hi Fi there is.

He is for sure no conartist  ,i think he just need to realize that when you make a deal or an agreement with anyone, whether a member of this forum or not,to keep your promise, and to stick to the arrangement. If you can't, there is nothing wrong with apologizing and just be honest ,just don't make it a habit.

As many here are well aware...I had a rough time with Zee a while back...a rather lengthy post and no doubt some pressure from fellow members got that sorted out...eventually!It certainly is a little disturbing to find this happening continuously and as pleasing and delightful as he has always been towards me even after our long-winded debacle...this is so not on!

From AVSA Classified:

"Be extremely cautious for a guy who claims to be a Mr Jim Bryan of London and who tries to strike deals with people advertising on this "Items wanted" site. It's a scam and I've just lost R5700! Be warned! Bryan is well organised, with courier company, website, phone no, tracking no, everything. Don't be fooled like I did...He claims to courier stuff through Firstflight Couriers...

Placed by Waldie Volschenk  |  2011-12-05  |  Warning l  082 895-5587  Anywhere
waldie@rustenburgherald.co.za"

I also received an email from this odious individual after placing a wanted ad on AVSA. Unlike Waldie, however, I never responded to his message.

Thanks for the heads-up bud. I am really sorry to hear about your loss, it sucks when that happens! I was scammed a couple years back with my DJ'ing equipment :-(
Under construction again...

Check the quotation marks, AB is way to clever to be scammed.   ;)

BTW, I also got an email from Jim Byran.  Smelled a scam and just ignored him.
