Hehe, would you believe it, I finally have the correct discs this morning! :) ;D ;) Also cool to have two copies as well.

I think it was more a case of the supplier really screwing up, but was a bit odd that Takealot wouldn't go to the trouble to verify that the copies they have are correct before sending out new batches. It is a bit of a screw up that the faulty and correct sets use the same packaging, which to me have too many hallmarks of a cover up, I wonder how many people really care about the soundtrack quality though and bother to return their copies with the standard DTS soundtrack? The Master Audio soundtrack is fantastic though, I enjoyed the pod race quite a bit on the first disc whilst checking out the new copies. Guess all will be forgiven soon, at least you can phone Takealot and they respond promptly to emails. Not many online stores in South Africa are that accessible.

I have a quick question guys. Is this 9 disc box set remastered or not? I just want to fully understand before I go out and buy this new release. In a nutshell, is the latest 9 disc box set in English Master Audio the best/best quality version of these movies or is there something else that is better?

What makes MA better than the DTS 6.1 'wrong' versions that were shipped to SA.
Cheers

I think they are all remastered. George Lucas did mess around with the original trilogy which got quite a few fans upset, check out the ratings on Amazon for a good laugh! ;) The picture also looks quite grainy on blu-ray with the original trilogy, but probably to be expected. I thought episodes I-II movies looked great in blu-ray in my view. The MA soundtrack also sounds quite a bit better and I think it holds true for the original trilogy as well. None of the MA soundtracks are compressed and they sound very clean and clear. If you are in the Centurion area you are more than welcome to check out my second copy of the discs before you buy them.

When people talk about "quality" wrt Star Wars, there are 2 things to consider. How close the are to the original cuts, and also the quality of the audio and video.

This release is the latest and greatest WRT audio and video quality without a doubt. Of course as Kamikazi has said transferring a 35 year old film onto Bluray is not going to make it suddenly super crisp quality. But for what is out there this is the best you have access to.

The fild are not the original cuts , and George Lucas has added bits into the films or change certain scenes in the film. With this is it personal opinion.

HD MA is technicaly better than std DTS. Think CD (Lossless) compared to MP3. It also has the ability to handle higher sample rates.
Caution, whatever you read above, may, wonder of wonders, contain some level of jocularity.

Thanks for the comments guys. I have sent an e mail to Takealot and if they confirm that the version they have advertised at R749 will be the English HD/MA version- I will order from them for sure!

Murphys Law hey. My wife ordered the box set, we picked it up this morning and yep, its the wrong version.
I've mailed the same lady who assured me that there shouldn't be a problem and I guess I too will be sitting with an extra copy :)
