Headphone meet in Gauteng
« on: November 03, 2011, 09:31:38 am »
So... I'm a budding audiophile who loves headphones; mostly because I can't afford the higher end audio equipment apart from headphones ;) However, I'd like to get to listen to more headphones, their sound signatures etc, and wanted to know if there is any such thing as a headphone meet among forum members here in Gauteng. Nothing overly formal, just a simple get together at some bloke's house where people bring in there own headphones and accessories (headphone amps, dacs, sources etc) and we all mill about and take a listen, chat a tad and generally have a good time. The benefits include being able to listen to exotic headphones and/or headphones one is considering for a purchase; understanding the various sound signatures from the various headphones, actually meeting forum members etc.

Does such a get together exist in Gauteng? If not, would anyone on these forums be interested in such a meet?

I will be interested. Would be nice to see the sound signatures of other headphones. Would be nice to be able listen to something like the Sennheiser HD600 or HD800, perhaps some Audio Technica's and maybe even the AKG K701 as well! If people are interested in the Grado sound I could arrange a Grado SR325is and RS1i.

I have a set of Denon AH-D7000 headphones, Grado SR80is and an iBasso D2+Boa I could bring in.

I'm in the process of buying a new place, so will only be able to host a meet sometime early next year. There seems to be enough response to organize something like this, so gonna leave the posts up here and start collecting names :)

If anyone else is interested in hosting said meet before next year, do pipe up...

Btw, would love to hear any of the higher end Grados since the SR80i's were really a life changing set of headphones for me!
