When you see me riding you'll wonder if time is standing still or if somebody pushed pause.

<Twink!>

- you're riding on rollers! ;D

Had a great race on saturday, REALLY thinking of riding with takkies again, wiped out at the waterpoint trying to unclip when I hit some real thick sand.

Light gear, weight off the front wheel and you will guide through thick sand with ease.
Many years at Cape Epic through thick sand has trained me well  :D :D

You are more than worthy, it's kinda my job, one day when I get too old, I would not be worthy  :D

There's plenty of quick old people in the races, Grand Master category I think (60+)...
LF: Cheap but decent interconnects so I can try to hear the difference, or not.

But they are nowhere near the front.

Any forums where one can seek some technical skills on the net? I have trouble keeping up speed when going over rough terrain, all that shaking on the arms just kills me. I don't know if I should relax my grip or what.

The reasons could be many.
As you said, relax your grip.
But it could also be the front fork, perhaps set-up too hard, rebound too fast (if the shock has all those settings)

I did Attakwas on this.

Pick a line before you get to the rough stuff, stand up and be light on the bike. Learn to bunny hop. Get some decent shocks, padded gloves and fatter tyres can also help.

Otherwise try this http://mountainbike.about.com/od/tipsandtechniques/Mountain_Bike_Riding_Tips_and_Techniques.htm

Wow, what's the specs on that bike? Maybe I shouldn't ask, might get kicked off the AV forum for liking bikes too much :)

That's my Singlespeed.

The main category I race in.

Avid hydraulics with a Niner steel frame, Reynolds 853 steel.

I am now running XTR brakes from Shimano.
The fork on the pic is a Ritchey and has now been replaced with the Niner fork.

I built the wheels myself with Hope Pro 2 hubs and Loaded AMXC 29'er rims, I laced them 2 cross with super revolution spokes (luckily I qualified as a master wheel-builder)

My pride and joy is the pink Chris King headset, all the proceeds go to the breast cancer foundation.
I will post pics of my other bikes.

I am sure the OP won't mind and I have shared this on the forum before, but let me share it again.
