Adding externally hosted photos to your ads
« on: October 26, 2011, 05:10:31 pm »
A very brief how-to:

1. Open a browser tab showing the image you want to display in your post (could be hosted on Flickr, the manufacturer site, etc).

2. Right click on the picture and select the option to Copy Image Address or Copy Link Location. This terminology varies depending on the browser used.

3. When you are typing your post here on the forum simply click on the picture frame icon .

4. Paste the url you copied in step 2 between the two img tags that are now in your post.

That's it. Your image will appear like the one below:

Then you upload the photo to an image hosting site like http://tinypic.com/ or http://imageshack.us/ and get the link from their to put inbetween the relevant bbcode

I use Google Picasa. Download and install the "Picasa 3" from Google, it will integrate with your Explorer and from there on it's as easy as right-click on a photo in Explorer and choose "Add to Web albums". Your local Picasa installation is also automatically synchronised with your Web-Picasa storage (albums). Dead easy to manage.

I tried doing that with a picture.  But photobucket doesn't allow this option when I right-clicked.  The photo is here:

Brett,

I actually recommend Photobucket to host pictures. When you have your pic open in Photobucket, there's a box either under the pic or to the right of it, with some links you can copy. To post on the forum, copy the IMG link. In fact, you just click on the link and it copies it for you. Here it is:
