I'm leaning towards the HTC Sensation... I hear it's waterproof.  ;)

Anything that FNB offers I view with high suspicion. It would be better to just put the iPad on your credit card budget over 24 months.

Seems to have been quite a good marketing tool, though - I read on another forum that they already had in excess of 5000 iPad tablet orders by Friday last week, and the offer only really seems to have hit the press today, so who knows what the order volumes will be like now. I've been with FNB all my life and apart from one or two glitches over the years, I have to say I have always had very good service from them.

I've been with them for about 6 months and to be honest, I don't think I have ever experienced such poor service from any business, ever. I even get better service from Telkom and I am not joking about that. My FNB experience has been nightmarish and I don't even owe them any money for cars or houses. I only have the account because of PayPal.

I suppose having worked in a bank for 12 years in another life and another century I have somewhat higher standards than what is on offer these days.

Oh crap, don't get me started on standards... Yes, it's appalling what passes for 'reasonable' service these days in SA. I've got to the point where with certain companies I don't even bother trying the so-called help line - I go straight to Hello Peter and log a complaint there. Experience has shown me that the employees that get those complaints are several layers above the help line bunch, and actually can assist you, most of the time. That's if they are registered with the website, of course.

Well good on FNB for promoting their internet banking products. Hopefully ABSA will catch a wake-up soon. I would also like to bank using an Android app. Still wouldnt buy any of those gadgets even if it was interest free. These gadgets become obsolete so quickly I cannot see why you would want to pay it off over 24 months? I'd rather upgrade my whisky! :) The HTC Sensation would be a nice deal if you could migrate to a cheaper cellular plan.

They are showing initiative, so kudos to them, I have to say...Agreed that the Smartphones are like PCs - you buy top of the range today and tomorrow it is ancient. I've placed my order (from the posts I read elsewhere it seems a bit chaotic, but....), and if I get it I will spend the next 8 months learning how to use it, so will see how it goes. Seems like a good one week waiting period, according the other people who have ordered, hope my old LG survives the wait, lol...  :D  FNB are by no means perfect, but measured against my experience with other banks, they rate pretty well. But you raise a good point - if you buy the phone, are you actually obliged to fit in with any package? I would assume not, so it becomes pretty much a 'do as you please' phone? There's no package from what I can see, just the phone value on offer.

ABSA will not recover guys....its a downward spiral, an RSA institution being ****@d up buy foreigners. Why ?

1) They immediately brought out voluntary packages... take it or get less when they retrench - pre 2005
2) Then they retrenched - 2005-2007
3) When I consulted there for 3 years, in the end I took the bus with at least 50 guys from India... Even took a photo 2007-2009
4) Now they are OUTSOURCING their complete IT areas, to who - Fffff India again! 2011..... and nooo, dont think you as a citizen will keep your job

This is bull, if our money doesnt go to China, Germany, India, UK, maybe we will have more lazy people earning money in the old RSA paying taxes HERE, spending money HERE generating more Vat HERE

I sms'd two weeks ago and still no contact. Have emailed twice and don't even bother trying the call center.

They advertise furiously but clearly don't want the business

Received my Ipad2 yesterday. Order was placed on 26 Oct but the "consultant" who called me didnt place the order then. A couple of tweets and emails and a post on Hellopeter and an Ipad was ordered and delivered to me in 3 days.
