Enclosure Group Buy Round 2
« on: October 24, 2011, 09:24:37 am »
Hi All

I have had a few emails asking for boxes. And I would like to have another 135mm enclosure for myself for an itch I have.

I will give a week or so time ,while I change the 250mm high enclosure for Prince for his F5 build.

So

I just want to possibly get a feeling if there is anyone else looking to get some 95mm or 135mm enclosures for builds they want to do.

prices should be very much the same as the previous build.

95mm enclosure R520
135mm enclosure R580

95mm enclosure faceplate : R88
135mm enclosure faceplate: R117

Faceplate is punched 4.5mm Anodized Alu , lid and base is 1.6mm mild steel.

I'm definitely interested in the 135mm enclosure as discussed.

It will

standard heat sinks are normally 75 and 100 and 125 an 150mm high.

So you could even build a 5 channel one in the 135mm high enclosure. :)

Just place the heat sinks inline with the air flow of the vents.

the 135mm is also high enough to stack toroidal transformers on top of each other if you choose to use to separates.

These heat sinks will be very suited:

should be nice overkill per channel or probably enough to fit more than one board.

the 200 x 125 x 25 one looks like great value for money.

Could we get black anodized faceplates? Not a fan of silver...

Fyi

you can use anything

but i used these for feet:

http://www.fort777.co.za/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_70_72_897&products_id=4885

They are low enough so that when the faceplate is fitted you can really see them. And high enough so when you have two enclosures on top of each other the faceplates don't touch each other.

long story short , a 11 or 12mm high foot make life easy.

Also if you put on the feet first , then you don't have problems with that toroidal bolt head that scratches your desk :P

This IEC with fuse fits perfectly into the rear panel cutout.

just a design thought and maybe you can ask for pricing on this. I know more people will be interested

what about making the the face 8mm or 10mm and screw it down from the back - this will give a beautiful clean design and look much more professional,

Just to be clear

I have so far made R0 of these enclosures. I divide the invoice from the metal place up into what ever you bought.

Last time I lost around R200 in fees due to using a courier company to collect and get them to me since I don't want to drive around cape town during office ours. Not even counting the hours to design and all the time spend on drawings.

The faceplates are not perfect. They aren't waterjet cut or lasered they are punched out.

I do not plan to make any money of it this time either except that my own enclosure will cost me less. And i need a 135mm enclosure to fit my two 95mm enclosures I am currently using. I might however add R10 to each enclosure this time so that I won't loose money again on transfer from the metal bending place up to my anyway.

It will ,but I am just not in the mood for the effort. Since I am happy with it like it is for myself.

Anyone is more than welcome to buy the enclosure without the faceplate and start his own group buy on a laser or water cut thick faceplate.

The place I use for the powder coated enclosure does not do this.

I'm interested in something about 60mm high if that's an option?
