^^^ Steake & Ale is a dingy dive, they have good artists appear there but jinne, you want to shower andthrow your clothes away after spending a few hours in there.

Just received Guy's complete discography in the mail, ripped the lot to FLAC for my music server and created mp3's for the car  :)

Couldn't stretch to the LP but picked up one of his CD's today. "When I grow up". Amazing sound.
LF: Cheap but decent interconnects so I can try to hear the difference, or not.

I have received my copy number 74/300 yesterday and gave it a spin last night. Interesting music and the virgin vinyl sounded really good.

Finally I got mine (the post office delayed, not Guy).
The quality of the pressing and the recording are exceptionally good - absolutely silent surface - this is not 'ordinary' mass production record quality. And neither is the music. It's very personal music, you need to listen to it and understand it - don't expect John Denver sing-along & clap guitar stuff. I find it rather reminiscent of the earliest 'Fresh Aire' [Mannheim Steam-roller] records, although not as jazzy.
I'm very glad I got the LP version - it's the right carrier for the music, and feels more appropriate than a CD or download (a coupon for which is supplied, but I will never use it).

I really loved the ambient tunes on the album like the '13th March 2009, Sodwana Bay' & 'Martian Folk Song' pieces. But its a real mixed bag. There's a Celtic type piece, some Afro-folk tunes and some straight up guitar music, all of which I loved. I ended up getting the free download from the coupon inside for my iPod and I burnt it to CD for my car. The LP is first prize though of course. Highly recommended album guys. Hey guys

I've been following Guy Buttery on Facebook and see he's just put out another album (not sure when, but sometime in January) with the legendary Nibs van der Spy. Sounds like another great release. You can stream the whole album here: http://nibsvanderspuyandguybuttery.bandcamp.com/

No vinyl release as of yet, but I've just put through an order for the CD. Definitely worth checking out.

They're definately different, like Afrikaans Prodigy. Saw them live a while back and I was impressed with their energy, still not sure on the music although some of it is better than others...
