Caution, whatever you read above, may, wonder of wonders, contain some level of jocularity.

I have seen him perform live 3 times here in Cape Town...the guy is amazing and is approaching the level of Antonio Forcione [who by the way regularly visits South Africa and is an absolute "must hear"!]

Also keep a look out for Derek Gripper here in Cape Town  http://www.derekgripper.co.za/derekgripper/home.html

Neither did I, he has been here once from what I recall, I saw him at the Blues Room.
I think I have around 5 Forcione albums, I have an autographed Meet me in London.

Heres a thing.. should I kick up a stink?
I emailed Guy Buttery, not sure if it is a personal reply or a secretarial service doing the response, but I was quoted R290 + R40 (postage to Johannesburg), payment by bank transfer. That's R330.00 total.
If I order it via paypal to be delivered to the USA, their price is R289.53, including postage!

So... maybe I should save money & buy from only American artists working in America?

No matter what the price - lets hope it opens the doors to our bands wanting to hit it on vinyl or even better get our music industry to pull their finger out...

Come on Shifty - how cool would it be to have a new re-issued Kalahari Surfers or James Phillips on 180 grams

or even a vinyl of this - the coolest fella to hold a harmonica

If I remember correctly from looking at the Paypal link, the shipping for local delivery (in the USA) are free. So it's exactly the same price as the local purchase. The record is pressed in Holland, so probably cheaper to get some to the States versus getting them down here.

Could be - I had assumed they were all 'stored' here in SA, but possibly some have already been sent over 'there' for quick & cheap delivery.

Just as a side note, I had a look at his diccography on bandcamp and his albums are available for download in FLAC format as well.  Great to see, now if only they were 24/96.
